Bonnie Merchant
Artist's Statement:

Bonnie lives and works in Beavercreek, Oregon. She has been a potter, an actor, and has been published for her work in polymer clay. Bonnie is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin. Currently she is working in mixed metals, creating earrings, necklaces, pins and bracelets.

Her work has been in two national shows, including:

  • Moving Through Light, Contemporary Crafts Gallery, Portland, OR

  • Explorations in Polymer Clay, Artisans' Center of Virginia, Waynesboro, VA

Bonnie's jewelry expresses her humor and self-confidence, and the humor and self-confidence of the wearer. It's simple and straightforward and always shows the hand of the artist.

Currently she is creating a line called Fragments. The pieces evoke lost and found human existence - wisdom, love, science, the eternals of human endeavor.

Fabulous Stuff

The metals are etched and cut with a jewelers saw, then they are filed and sanded. Pieces are either fine-soldered or joined with silver or gold wire. Most pieces are waxed and sealed. Ear wires are either sterling silver or 18K gold-filled. All work is done by hand.  Pieces may be cleaned with a jewelers cloth or an extra-fine finger-nail buffer.
