Kati Bendig
Artist's Statement:

Kati Bendig has been dabbling in various forms of art since early childhood. Oils, oil pastels and charcoal were her focus at Gresham High School and later at Portland Community College. After her marriage in 1979, the business of making a living put her art aspirations on hold and the birth of her daughter took up the rest of her time. Then in 1999 she happened into her local Art Media store to watch a watercolor demonstration. It looked fun, so she signed up for a class. Portraits and still life quickly became her favorite subjects. "The minute I put those jewel-toned paints to paper I knew I was hooked! I love how watercolor interprets light as it dances across a child's face, or filters through a floral still life."

In 2001, she was juried into the Watercolor Society of Oregon and participates in the annual Portland Open Studios tour. Her work has also been shown at the North clackamas Art Guild, Beaverton Showcase, Tualatin Art Splash and The Artist Show & Sale. She was named the grand prize winner of Daniel Smith's "Faces & Places" contest in 2004.

She lives with her husband, daughter, dog and two cats in Milwaukie, Oregon and teaches watercolor in her home studio.
