Artist's Bio:

Jude Welter was born and raised in southwestern Montana, moving with her family to Oregon as a teen. She has always done some sort of art, from a very early age, but as a young mother, she enrolled in Mt. Hood Community College to learn the graphics trade. This landed her a job with an advertising agency, as the staff artist—a job that used her pen & ink skills. After this, she spent 8 years as co-owner of the historic Fellows House Gallery and Restaurant in Oregon City.

Teaching what she has learned has always given Jude a great deal of satisfaction, and many of her students have been featured in the ‘Picket Fence Art Shows’ which were held from 1995-2002. In 2000, the show was featured as a part of the Smithsonian Traveling Garden Exhibit and received rave reviews. From that jumping off point, the ‘First city Arts Faire’ was born in 2003, an event honoring all of the ‘firsts’ of Oregon City. Jude was instrumental in co-chairing this incredible event which is growing and including many new highlights as it enters its 3rd year of planning.

Jude has also orchestrated 8 years of the ‘P-Burg Paint-Out’, an en plenair workshop in the beautiful Flint Creek Valley of Montana. It’s only natural that as she has time to further explore Oregon, this need to share and teach transparent watercolor has given her the opportunity to also teach for Lynne Myers and her Art of Sisters workshops.
